Photofacial in Dallas, TX
A BBL™ Photofacial is a cosmetic procedure utilizing a Sciton® BBL laser specially designed to help reduce or eliminate birthmarks, rosacea, freckles, liver spots, past sun damage, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and more. Although this procedure is typically performed on the face, other areas of concern may also respond to treatment with the Sciton® laser. The Bloom Medical Spa, led by medical director and board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David G. Genecov, is proud to offer the BBL™ Photofacial treatment to residents of Dallas, Plano and surrounding Texas communities.
What Is a BBL™ Photofacial?
A BBL™ Photofacial targets specific areas of concern on the face with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL®). This laser light gently removes areas of discoloration on the skin that may be due to a congenital formation or environmental damage.
Why Choose The Bloom Medical Spa for a Photofacial?
Our registered nurse Carolyn Craft, R.N., and Esthetician Sherri Alford, LME, are trained and experienced in BBL™ treatments for brown spots and rosacea.
Benefits of BBL™ Photofacial
A BBL™ Photofacial can treat those areas of your face which may bring you unwanted attention or have lowered your self-confidence. Patients who have undergone a BBL™ Photofacial have reported experiencing the following benefits:
- A clearer complexion and skin tone with improved texture and increased softness of the skin.
- Feeling more confident and experiencing increased self-esteem that comes with no longer having to feel self-conscious about their facial appearance.
How Is a BBL™ Photofacial Performed?
A gentle laser light is swept over the treatment area. A gentle warming sensation may be experienced during this process. You will be asked if you wish to wear safety goggles during the procedure to protect your eyes from the laser light. The entire procedure takes only a few short minutes, so it can be performed on your lunch break and you can return to work afterward.
Preparing for a BBL™ Photofacial
Tanning beds must be avoided before and after receiving a BBL™ Photofacial. If IPL® is being used for hair reduction, you must also avoid tanning before your session, as the coloration difference between the areas under the hair versus that of normal skin is what the process uses in order to work and its effectiveness is challenged if the skin in the treatment area is more tanned.
BBL™ Photofacial Recovery
A BBL™ Photofacial involves little to no pain, discomfort, or necessary recovery time. You may experience a sensation similar to having a minor sunburn in the treatment area. Your skin may appear pinkish in color immediately following treatment; however, this will fade quickly, revealing your results. Many patients are impressed with how quickly they are able to see a visible difference.
Is a BBL™ Photofacial Right for Me?
A BBL™ Photofacial may be right for you if you are experiencing any of the following conditions:
- You are unhappy with the appearance of freckles, birthmarks, or facial issues that cause you distress.
- You want to reduce or eliminate the signs of rosacea, age spots, or past sun damage.
What to Expect During Your Consultation
During your consultation, we will review your complete medical history to determine if you are an ideal candidate for a BBL™ Photofacial and that there are no conflicts or issues that could arise during or after the procedure. You and the staff will then discuss your needs, areas of concern and ideal goals of treatment, and the doctor will then take the time to answer any of your questions. We may also ask to examine the area being treated in order to make further determinations and decisions regarding your treatment. Every consultation is conducted with the greatest amount of courtesy and professionalism. A thorough explanation of each step is given at this time to ensure that you are well-informed and comfortable with the entire process. Once you feel fully confident about your decision to undergo the BBL™ Photofacial procedure and are satisfied with the answers to your questions, you will then schedule your treatment visit.
