What Is Botox®?
Botox® is an injectable that is most commonly used to reduce the look and signs of aging. In particular, it softens the look of fine lines and wrinkles, giving the face an overall more youthful appearance. Botox® has also been used to treat other issues such as overactive bladder and migraine headaches.
Why Choose The Bloom Medical Spa for Botox®?
All of our Botox® injections are performed by Carolyn Craft, R.N., a licensed registered nurse who is a certified injector.
You may consider Botox® if you are looking to:
- Temporarily diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face.
- Have smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.
- Try an alternative remedy for migraines.
- Reduce underarm sweating.
Botox® is most well-known for its use as a treatment for signs of aging in the face. It can not only help you look younger but help you regain self-confidence as well.
Where Can Botox® Be Applied?
Botox® can be applied in order to improve the following facial areas:
- Around the eyes
- Dimples on the chin
- Smoker’s lines around mouth
- Eyebrows/Frown lines
- Bunny lines on nose
How Is Botox® Administered?
Our certified injectors will use an ultrafine hypodermic needle to send Botox® directly into the muscles in the treatment area. The number of injections needed will depend on the amount and severity of the lines and wrinkles being treated. The procedure is performed in-office and, for most patients, results can last for three to four months following treatment. Once the lines and wrinkles begin to become visible again, another treatment should be scheduled.
Botox® Procedure Preparation
It is very important that you notify the nurse injector performing your treatment if you have undergone other kinds of injections in the four months prior to your appointment. Also, be sure to inform them of any allergy drugs, sleep aids, or muscle relaxers you may be taking at the time of your appointment. Medications such as ibuprofen and other blood thinners must be avoided prior to your treatment as these increase bleeding and bruising risks associated with the procedure.
Following your Botox® treatment, make sure to avoid harsh rubbing of your face and avoid participating in any exercise or other rigorous activities. You will still be able to create facial expressions, such as smiling or frowning, immediately following Botox®. Any post-treatment pain or discomfort can be subdued with a cold compress on the treatment areas and/or taking a pain reliever.
Is Botox® Right for Me?
Botox® is one of many treatment options available for fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. It is ultimately your choice if Botox® is the best treatment for you.
What is Micro-Smooth Botox®?
New information has emerged to show that injections into the most superficial layers of the skin Botulinum Toxin (Botox®) has beneficial effects on the sebaceous glands (oil glands), blood vessels in the face and on skin texture.
It was found and confirmed by many experienced practitioners that Botox® does not just affect muscles of facial expressions. Fine muscles in the top layer of the skin (smooth muscles) which are the same ones which make your hair stand when you experience “goose bumps” are also similarly affected by Botulinum Toxin. These smooth muscles are known to control the skin pore size as well as oil and sweat production.
Fine wrinkles will be diminished and the skin texture will be more refined. The other effects are the non-oily, matte and powdered look.
As Botox® is also an inhibitor of P-factor (a main factor in the inflammation cascade), acne and its inflammatory process can be reversed.
What Does Superficial Injected Botox® Treat?
- Reduce pore size.
- Controls oil / sweat production.
- The reverse inflammatory process that causes acne and rosacea.
- Ease wrinkles / lines.
Net Effects of Superficial Injected Botox® Treatment
Microinjections of very small doses of Botox® are distributed superficially all over the face (mainly forehead, cheeks, and sides of face). It is almost painless due to the small 30G needle caliber, small volumes injected, and the usual pre-procedure numbing cream treatment.
When is an ideal time to start superficial injected Botox®?
There is no specific time when one can start Micro-Smooth Botox®, however, it is ideally done after the conventional Botox® treatment (i.e. dynamic wrinkles of forehead / glabella / crow’s feet). Micro-Smooth Botox® can be done on the same day as most other treatments, including your regular Botox® treatments.
How Long Can The Effects Of Micro-Smooth Botox® Last?
About four months.
